The Ga Mantse’s office has unveiled plans for a landmark visit by Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene, slated for Sunday, June 9, 2024.
The event, a first for an Asante monarch, is set to fortify the bonds between the Ga and Asante nations.
Nii Boi Abbey, head of the visit’s planning committee, announced during a press briefing at the Ga Mantse’s Palace on Thursday, June 6, that the occasion will culminate in a grand durbar.
Nii Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, the Ga Mantse, will host the historic cultural event at the palace’s forecourt in Kaneshie, Accra, starting at 11 am.
The visit follows the Ga Mantse’s attendance at Otumfuo’s 25th-anniversary celebrations and aims to rejuvenate the longstanding camaraderie between the Ga and Asante communities.
Nii Abbey reflected on the rich history of exchange between Ashantis and Gas spanning governance, cultural practices, and traditions.
“The Office of the Ga Mantse, therefore, invites all to witness this great moment in Ghanaian traditional history at the forecourt of the Ga Mantse’s Palace in Kaneshie, Accra, at 11 am on Sunday, June 9,” he announced.
